  • NUT comment on sexism in the classroom

    Commenting after the debate on Motion 48, Christine Blower, General Secretary of the National Union of Teachers, the largest teachers’ union, said: “While there has been over 40 years of advancements in equality between the sexes, in recent years there has been something of a step back. The ‘size zero’ phenomenon and gender stereotyping are on the rise. This is not the way to be bringing up half the population."

    The British Humanist Association (BHA) has welcomed the publication today of a new report by Education For Choice (EFC), examining the quality of education on abortion and contraception in UK schools. The report, Abortion Education in the UK: Failing our young people?, follows on from a number of high profile incidents involving anti-abortion groups which the BHA and EFC helped expose over the past year.
