Phil Wilson

Biography

Phil Wilson was re-elected MP for Sedgefield in May 2010 with a majority of 8,696 votes.

Phil is 48 years of age and lives in Trimdon Station, County Durham.

Phil has lived in the Sedgefield constituency all his life. His father worked down Fishburn colliery before closure. He was educated at Trimdon Secondary Modern and Sedgefield Comprehensive Schools and now his children attend school in Newton Aycliffe.

Phil's first job was as a shop assistant and then as a clerical worker in the civil service where he was a lay-trade union official.

He has then been a researcher for both a Member of Parliament and a member of the European Parliament.

Before gaining extensive knowledge of working in the private sector and running his own Public Interest business, advising companies and organisations on their social responsibility and community engagement obligations.
