Tom is an ex-TUC official now working for a consultancy that deals with corporate governance and shareholder engagement.


He's interested in getting the labour movement and the left to understand the capital markets properly.


There's plenty that needs fixing, but we need to get beyond simplistic anti-City and anti-business rhetoric to do it.

Tom Powdrill may sound like he's walked straight out of a B&Q advert, but his blogs show he's far from a tool.


In fact his blog is a fascinating maelstrom of tensions, as he tries to reconcile Labour's left-wing impulses with the dogma of capital markets.


He's always interested in ideas, playing around with them as they occur to him or as he reads them.
