Biography

This is the blog of Matthew Smith, also known as Yusuf, a convert to Islam who lives in New Malden, in south London or Surrey depending on your point of view.

He's 32 and converted to Islam in the summer of 1998. At the moment, He lives at home with his parents.

His interests, besides religion, are computing, particularly programming with the Qt programming toolkit, which is particularly "at home" on Unix but also works on Windows and Mac and on embedded devices.

He's the author of QTM, a desktop content management client which can post entries to websites which use Movable Type, Wordpress and other systems which support the same interfaces.

He's strictly Sunni, that is to say, pro-madhhab (Maliki in his case) and anti-"salafi", although he can get on with "salafis" over a curry in Tooting.

Blog Information

Well written but lengthy British political commentary from the perspective of a moderate muslim convert.

There's no doubting that this blog is well written. However, some of the articles are so wordy that we would advise you brew a cup of tea before sitting down to read them.

We found sometimes that the sheer amount of blank text could definitely do with being broken up with some other content.

There are no pictures or videos or much functionality other than comments on the site which is a shame as it would definitely improve the overall experience.
