Welcome to the London elections section of politics.co.uk. Here we will aim to bring you all the latest news and analysis in the run up to the London Assembly, Constitunecy Assembly and Mayoral Elections.

We will also be looking at some of the the other key battles taking place around the country as voters go to the polls to select new candidates to run their local authorities.

The list of candidates for the London elections has now been released. It includes front runner Boris Johnson for the Conservative Party and Ken Livingstone the Labour incumbent who is seeking a third term in office. The Liberal Democrats have also put forward their candidate, former Deputy Assistant Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police, Brian Paddick.

While most believe the election will simply be a contest between Johnson and Livingstone there are also candidates from the British National Party, the Green Party and the English Democrats.

UKIP have put forward a candidate as has the Christian Peoples Alliance and Christian Party. Key battlegrounds could include Barking and Dagenham where the British National Party narrowly missed out on the seat on the London Assembly at the previous election in 2004. The full list of candidates can be viewed here.

politics.co.uk also wants to hear your stories so if the candidates are campaigning in your area we want you to tell us what you think of them and what they had to say about the issues affecting you and your borough. Each news story has a section where you can leave your comments and there is also our special 'In my borough' section devouted to local stories from around London.

Don't forget to vote in our online poll as well. Each week we'll tell you how the candidates are fairing and whether you would be more or less likely to vote for each of them based on their perofmance that week. End of story
