Gloria De Piero

Biography:

Gloria de Piero was re-elected as Labour MP for Ashfield on May 7th 2015 with 19448 votes, taking 41.0% of the vote.

Before being elected as an MP aged 37, Gloria was GMTV’s Political Editor. She has previously worked as a journalist on the Politics Show at the BBC.

Gloria graduated from the University of Westminster with a first class honours degree in Social Sciences and completed an MSc at the University of London.

Ed Miliband appointed Gloria Shadow Minister for Women and Equalities in 2013, a role she is still covering.

Gloria was born in Bradford, Yorkshire, and is of Italian descent. During her early years, she lived in the working class area of south-west Bradford known as Wibsey, traditionally a Labour-voting area. Now she lives in the Eastwood area of her constituency.
