Frank Roy

Biography:

Frank Roy was re-elected MP for Motherwell and Wishaw in May 2010 with a majority of 16,806.

He is the Labour member of Parliament for Motherwell and Wishaw, and was first elected in 1997. He is currently a Government Whip and Lord Commissioner of HM Treasury.

Roy was, like many others in the area, a steelworker until he was made redundant in 1991 when Ravenscraig Steelworks closed. He worked as a parliamentary assistant to Helen Liddell MP before becoming MP for Motherwell and Wishaw. He is the first MP born locally to represent Motherwell and Wishaw.
