David Lindsay Willetts

Biography

David Willetts was re-elected MP for Havant in May 2010 with a majority of 12,160 votes.

David served as Shadow Secretary of State for Innovation, Universities and Skills before the general election. After the formation of the coalition he became higher education minister. He has been the Member of Parliament for Havant since 1992. He has worked at HM Treasury, the Number 10 Policy Unit, and served as Paymaster General in the last Conservative Government. He has also previously served as the Shadow Secretary of State for Work & Pensions and for Trade & Industry.

He is a Visiting Fellow at Nuffield College, Oxford, a Governor of the Ditchley Foundation, a member of the Council of the Institute for Fiscal Studies, a member of the Global Aging Commission, a member of the Advisory Board of the British Council, and a Visiting Professor at the Cass Business School.
