Daniel Hannan

Biography

Daniel Hannan is a writer and journalist, and has been Conservative MEP for South East England since 1999.

He speaks French and Spanish and loves Europe, but believes that the EU is making its constituent nations poorer, less democratic and less free.

Blog Information

Daniel Hannan is very much the Marmite of the Conservative party; you either love him or despise him.

Outspoken, controversial but always engaging, his blog makes for essential reading as it will either make your blood boil or have you singing his name from the rafters.

He is well known in political circles as the media darling of the conservative right in the US and the go-to guy for every right-wing commentator, from Sean Hannity to Glenn Beck, looking for someone to espouse their views.

He caused a lot of controversy in August 2009 when he was seen across Fox News decrying the NHS as a "60-year mistake", an action which prompted an outpouring of love for the beleaguered health service.

Hosted on the Telegraph's website, the design isn't particularly fascinating, but it's the content that pulls this forward.

Whatever your personal opinion of Hannan, there's no denying he's a gifted wordsmith and an informed, intelligent man.

We enjoy his views and news from Europe, where he sits as an MEP, and his forthright thoughts are always a fascinating read.

Love him or loathe him, you certainly can't ignore him.
