DoH: General Medical Council shakeup
Thursday, 06 Mar 2008 00:00
The government wants to make two changes to the General Medical Council's responsibilities ahead of its wider shakeup next year.
The GMC, which registers doctors to practice medicine in the UK, will see its council take up a new role in January 2009.
It proposes to give the council statutory responsibility for the oversight of education, rather than just education committee, allow late applications to the GMC's specialist register and reform the GMC's licence revalidation processes.
The consultation ends on June 5th 2008.
