DoH: Healthcare and social care reform
Tuesday, 18 Mar 2008 00:00
The government is planning "major" reform of the way healthcare and social care is regulated and performance measured.
It hopes to introduce new regulations by April 2009 and is consulting on regulations governing the independent healthcare sector and changes to related national minimum standards.
"More can be done to ensure that services are more patient and user-focused," health minister Ben Bradshaw said.
"This programme will put patients and service users at the forefront of driving forward improvements to services through increased choice, improved commissioning, and new regulatory arrangements."
The consultation ends on June 5th 2008.
