Biography:

Chris Leslie was re-elected MP for Nottingham East on May 7th 2015 with 19298 votes, taking 54.6% of the vote.

Chris has been an active campaigner for over 25 years, and started his political career in 1994 when, for four years, was a Councillor on Bradford Council. In 1997 he was elected MP for Shipley, a safe seat for the Conservatives and, after being confirmed again in this role in 2001, he lost his seat by only 400 votes in 2005. Chris covered various positions in the Labour Government, as Minister in the Cabinet Office, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State at the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister in the Department for Constitutional Affairs. In 2010 he ran and win as an MP for Nottingham East.

In February 2005 Chris married Nicola Murphy, a special adviser to Gordon Brown.
