Biography

Brooks Newmark was re-elected MP for Braintree in May 2010 with a majority of 16,121.

Brooks Newmark was elected in 2005 as the Conservative Member of Parliament for Braintree and was appointed as the Opposition Treasury Whip in July 2007. He has previously served as a member of the Treasury Select Committee (2006-7) and the Science & Technology Select Committee (2005-7). Prior to entering politics he was a Senior Partner at Apollo Management, a leading International Private Equity firm. Brooks was educated at Harvard College (AB History) and Harvard Business School (MBA Finance). He was also a Politics Research Graduate at Worcester College Oxford, where he met his wife Lucy. Brooks is currently an Elected Director of the Board of the Harvard Alumni Association and serves on the Advisory Board of London Business School (The Private Equity Institute)."
