Billy Hayes

Biography

The position Billy Hayes holds is general secretary (GS) of the Communication Workers Union (CWU). The CWU is the seventh largest union in Britain with almost 270,000 members.

Billy Hayes was born in Liverpool. After leaving school, he became an apprentice fitter welder for a number of years. He then went on to work at John West Foods. He then took a six-month break 'doing a Jack Kerouac' around Europe before joining the Post Office as a postman.

There are some genuinely exciting blogs out there in the blogsphere. Unfortunately this is not one of them.

This is simply a collection of speeches made by Bill Hayes as part of his work as general secretary of the Communication Workers Union and not much else.

We appreciate that, like many people in high profile jobs, he may not have the time to write an actual blog but simply cutting and pasting his speeches into a blog or articles written by others smacks of laziness. Unless you have a need to read his speeches there's really nothing here worth seeing.
