Originally compiled on the orders of King Alfred the Great, approximately A.D. 890, and subsequently maintained and added to by generations of anonymous scribes.
The original language was Anglo-Saxon, but these later entries are essentially Estuary English in tone.
You could say, this is an EU "Withdrawalist, Libertarian and generally reactionary blog. Regular, but amateurish".
Should do better.
It's tone is suitably frivalous, given its approach to politics, but The Anglo-Saxon Chronicle still feels somewhat without purpose.
Its politics are clear but without posts fully fleshing out its arguments it is forced to rely on cartoon humour - some of it funny - and appeals to those who feel the same way.
There's nothing disasterous here, but neither is there anything remotely inspiring or worth returning for. Something about the way the author writes leads us to believe he's capable of better.
