The week in Westminster: January 9th - January 13th

Thursday, 29 December 2011 3:53 PM

The Lords is where it's at in the first week of parliament in 2012.

Peers will be debating matters related to EU on each of the three days they're sitting this week, as they address the fallout from last year's eurozone agreement. Where next for Britain's relationship with the other 26 EU member states? The Lords will have had their say by the end of the week, that's for sure.

The upper House is of interest for another reason: the ennoblement of Sir Gus O'Donnell, just days after stepping down as head of the civil service.
