The NSCFC wishes to make it known that it fully supports the admirable and necessary work as undertaken by FASSIT to expose the incompetence and inhuman treatment as meted out by Social Services. That this most despised of all government agencies has had licence for decades to effect the lives of so many thousands upon thousands of innocent parents and children by the use of closed courts as is the case also with CAFCASS is to say the least an infringement on basic human rights and must be exposed as such. Fact, approximately 3,300 children a year are placed for adoption and the rate is steadily increasing. Tony Blair has asked for a 40% increase in adoption and through public service agreements some councils are fully meeting this and gaining massive financial rewards and "stars" for doing so. ( Local Authority Circular LAC(2001)33 ) Kent County Council received £21 million for meeting 10 out of 12 of their public service agreements for 2000 - 2003. Visit Ian Josephs site on Forced Adoption it is appalling but true. ( http://www.forced-adoption.com ) A result of all this has been to strongly motivate social workers to procure children suitable for adoption even if it means splitting up the very families they are meant to support and protect. They are not just trying to get children who are in care adopted; they are deliberately unjustly taking children from good decent homes on trumped up charges of abuse, and having them adopted. It is like an industry, but horrifically the commodities involved are children.
We live in a country where social workers regularly commit perjury in a secret family court and along with unscrupulous judges and officials conspire to deny families of their children. If the government does not fully address the injustices suffered at the hands of the family justice system, it will need to prepare itself for a barrage of claims that British families’ human rights have been violated....where at present a minority of gutless, ignorant and cruel individuals stand more unaccountable than ministers in our own government. An unaccountable minority making lives hell for thousands of families and their precious children each year. An unaccountable minority who escape prosecution for their perjurous crimes committed against innocent families in unaccountable family courts wrapped in secrecy. Unaccountable legal representatives who pretend to care right at the start, only to deceive and ignore nearing the end. These are draconian laws, but made worse when twisted by local authority officials using a safety net of unaccountability. Abolish all secrecy in the Family Law Courts and let the daylight of open inquiry illuminate their work only then can it truly be said that we live in a democratic society. In conclusion we can only but echo the following sad reality as expressed by Dame Denise Robertson when she exclaimed on the This Morning Show “The Sheer scale of the injustice is far worse than anyone can imagine” and implore all victims from this day forth to say enough is enough, the time has come for truth and justice and this we demand.
