Hot on the heels of the redesigned January issue of IRTE's (Institute of Road Transport Engineers) industry-leading technical journal, Transport Engineer, a new website www.transportengineer.org.uk provides a host of dynamic features designed specifically for professional transport engineers and operators.
IRTE forms part of SOE (Society of Operations Engineers), a membership organisation with nearly sixty-five years' experience developing engineering professionals.
SOE President Chris Grime said: "Readers of Transport Engineer now have an array of crucial information and services at their fingertips, as well as a first class technical magazine that continues to provide essential industry news. For the first time, all the information professional road transport engineers need to support them in their daily work, can be found in one place."

VOLKSWAGEN COMMERCIAL VEHICLES LAUNCHES FLEET PACKAGE PRICING
Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles is strengthening its commitment to fleet customers by introducing Fleet Package Pricing.
The aim of the scheme is to offer fleet customers a service, maintenance and repair proposition, which is consistently delivered through the national Van Centre network using a competitive and transparent pricing structure. This ensures the customer knows the maximum price they will have to pay for service work wherever they are
in the country. The majority of Volkswagen's national network of Van Centres has already joined the programme, which is being launched this month.
Fleet Package Pricing uses Menu Pricing and Service, Maintenance and Repair (SMR) systems to introduce a simple method of job pricing. The customer receives
a quotation based on actual factory times for all service, maintenance and repair
work and the manufacturer's recommended retail price for genuine Volkswagen replacement parts.
The price quoted depends on which maximum labour rate band the Van Centre carrying out the repairs has agreed to. Participating Van Centres can sign up to one of five rate bands that apply to Fleet Package Pricing, ranging from £38 to £55 per hour. The maximum labour rate bands will be reviewed annually after the initial introduction period from August to December.
The scheme also gives the assurance that Van Centres will do their utmost to deliver a maximum three working day lead time without alternative transport, or a five working day maximum lead time with transport.
Free vehicle collection and delivery is offered within a reasonable time and distance, along with the option of a courtesy vehicle, provided free of charge, when a lead time of within five working days has been estimated. When a broken-down vehicle is recovered, the Van Centre will advise the driver and/or fleet owner of its repair status within 24 hours of its arrival. When minor service work is being carried out, such as lubrication services, Van Centres may offer a 'while-you-wait' facility. An additional benefit of Fleet Package Pricing is that customers will not be charged for fitment of certain items if they occur as part of a service job.
Fleet Package Pricing underlines Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles' commitment to providing the best possible service for its fleet customers. For further information call the Commercial Vehicles Fleet Package Pricing Helpline on 0800 0130012.
