SOE: It's a wonderful life thanks to plant engineering

Tuesday, 12 October 2010 12:00 AM

An informative leaflet on the varied professions collectively known by the term 'Plant Engineer' has been launched to highlight the vital contribution of the sector, as well as its excellent career prospects.

IPlantE (Institution of Plant Engineers) hopes the guide, Plant Engineering and the IPlantE, will ensure the varied and exciting opportunities within plant engineering will not lead to confusion. Moreover, IPlantE aims to promote the profession to the next generation of plant engineers, as well as recognise the vital work of those already working in the sector.

Plant engineering covers a number of vital professions, across manufacturing, railways, facilities, the military and utilities, providing society with a high standard of living. As many existing engineering professionals know, plant engineering offers an incredible amount to those who make it their career. The leaflet explains what professional plant engineers and technicians do, the benefits of a career in plant engineering and where the IPlantE fits in.

Plant Engineering and the IPlantE is produced by one of the plant sector's leading membership institutions. A Professional Sector of SOE (Society of Operations Engineers), IPlantE also publishes industry-leading technical magazine, Plant Engineer, and the regularly updated www.plantengineer.org.uk, which includes a comprehensive online directory. IPlantE members have access to Continued Professional Development, a network of regional and national events, discounts on products and services, the opportunity to register with the Engineering Council and much more.

For more information about IPlantE and to download a copy of the leaflet, please visit www.soe.org.uk/iplante. To order copies, email technical@soe.org.uk or call 020 7630 1111.
