SOE: Are you the next bus and coach Apprentice of the Year?

Final call for entrants as top industry award attracts eager PCV apprentices

With the deadline approaching for this year's GoSkills 'Go for Excellence' Passenger Transport Awards, the Institute of Road Transport Engineers (IRTE) is urging bus and coach apprentices and course leaders to get their applications in.

The IRTE is sponsoring the Transport Engineering and Maintenance (bus and coach) Apprentice of the Year category at the prestigious event, due to be held later this year at Wembley Stadium.

The awards are a nationwide scheme designed to recognise and celebrate the achievements and successes of learners and employers across the passenger transport sector.

IRTE is a leading institution for technicians and engineering professionals within road transport, supporting its members throughout their careers and promoting professional development.

As one of engineering's biggest supporters of apprenticeship schemes, IRTE was eager to be involved with the bus and coach apprentice award.

Chief Executive Nick Jones said:

"Engineering apprenticeships are vital in ensuring our profession continues to benefit from a highly skilled and passionate workforce. It is of the upmost importance that industry supports its future development.

"IRTE is proud to sponsor an award that recognises achievement, particularly from the bus and coach sector. Their work means the rest of the country can continue to function and, therefore, they contribute hugely to the economy."

The closing date for entries is 24 JULY. If you would like to be nominated or you wish to nominate an apprentice, please visit the Passenger Transport Award website (www.goskills.org).

For more information on how the IRTE can help add value to your apprenticeship programmes, including ECUK EngTech registration, please contact will.reeves@soe.org.uk or 020 7630 1111.
