Free Halfords Card for SOE's engineers

Monday, 15 June 2009 12:00 AM

New agreement entitles technicians from the Society of Operations Engineers (SOE) to Halfords trade discounts.

Members of SOE, who attain EngTech (Engineering Technician) professional registration, are being rewarded for their success and commitment to industry with a Halfords Trade Card - offering discounts on car parts, oils, workshop equipment, consumables, tools, body repair products and much more.

SOE worked with Halfords to identify which parts of their membership would benefit most from the Card. The research overwhelmingly concluded EngTechs, who often have practical and supervisory roles, would use the card most.

The Society of Operations Engineers is a membership body supporting and developing engineering professionals in the transport, plant and engineer surveying industries.

SOE's Will Reeves said:

"The Trade Card is the latest of a number of benefits aimed at assisting engineers during challenging times. EngTechs often work on engineering's front line. Therefore, the advantages would filter throughout firms, benefitting all."

SOE is a key supporter of skill development and has agreements with training providers to add value to apprenticeship schemes by assessing courses, often in line with Engineering Council (ECUK) regulations. In addition, the Society, often referred to as the 'home of EngTech', has registered significantly more engineers to official EngTech status than any other body for the past two years.

Though SOE's EngTechs will automatically be entitled to the Card, the scheme is available for anyone to join, provided they prove they are working as a mechanic.

EngTech members can register for the card at www.soe.org.uk, or for more information on how to add value to your training programme, contact Will Reeves on 020 7630 1111 or will.reeves@soe.org.uk.
