Women & Work
Through Women & Work: Sector Pathways Initiative we have secured £580,000 Government funding for a skills development programme for 625 women employed in the Justice sector in England. The initiative is in response to recommendations by the Women & Work Commission's report 'Shaping a Fairer Future' and receives Government funding, matched by employer contributions. The employees and volunteers of our current member organisations will be given priority in accessing this funding.

Evidence from the Justice Sector Skills Agreement shows that women are under-represented at middle and senior management levels across the sector. In order to address this, the initiative will equip women with the skills, confidence and mentoring support they need to overcome barriers to achieving a new job, or progressing to a supervisory, managerial, higher level or more demanding role within the sector. There will be a small employer contribution required toward each programme, but this offer still represents up to a 90% cost reduction.
Following consultation last year with member organisations, we have ringfenced funding for interested organisations, and are in the process of confirming training with them. However, we are maintaining a waiting list for interested organisations, so please contact us for more information.
We also have a number of bursaries available for individuals to access off-the-shelf training. With an employer contribution of £150 towards the training of your choice, we can offer up to £700 of funding. Please contact us on 0114 231 7392 to discuss how we can help with your training requirements. For the bursary application form, and to see information on the types of training your organisation could run with our funding, visit the Useful Documents page.
