SASIG always welcomes new member authorities to add to the valuable strength of the organisation that is derived from the diversity and geographical spread of the membership, bringing together a coherent message on issues affecting communities around airports right across the country.
SASIG provides representation for Local Authorities with a responsibility for aviation, assisting the group deal with current issues, consider the sustainability of the industry in their areas, and work together to influence the development and implementation of Government aviation policy.
SASIG is part of the Local Government Association with membership covering a wide range of Local Authorities in both urban and rural areas. As such, SASIG forms the only major alliance in the country that brings together communities comprising airport users and non-users, airport and airline staff, and encompassing all political parties. This gives SASIG an authoritative voice on airports policy that no single political party, Government department, airline or airport operator, environmental or industry lobby group can claim.
