Top Transport Boss to be guest speaker at RHA Lunch

The Road Haulage Association is delighted that Transport for London Commissioner, Peter Hendy CBE, has agreed to take on the task of principal speaker at the Association's Annual Lunch to be held on Tuesday 4 October at London's Grand Connaught Rooms.

"This is great news", said RHA Chief Executive Geoff Dunning. "Peter Hendy is one of those people who is able to strike the perfect balance; he is entertaining AND knows his stuff.

"We are now on the countdown to the Olympics. An event which represents much more than just a sporting occasion and, if it is to stand any chance of success, an effective transport and logistics infrastructure will be vital. I'm sure that as a key player, Mr Hendy will be able to enlighten us as to how this will be achieved.

Peter Hendy started his career in the public transport industry in 1975 as a London Transport graduate trainee and, after a variety of roles within the sector, was appointed Commissioner in 2006, having previously served as TfL's MD of Surface Transport. He was awarded the CBE in the 2006 New Year's Honours List, for his work in keeping public transport in London running during the bombings of 7 July 2005 London bombings. Peter is also the current President of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport.

The event will take place at the Grand Connaught Rooms, 61-63 Great Queen Street, Covent Garden, London WC2B 5DA and tickets are on sale at £95.00 (+ VAT) or £900 (+VAT) for a table of 10.
