Qualifications and registration are key drivers in social services improvement, according to the Care Council for Wales’ latest Annual Report, published on 1 March 2008.

The Report also outlines the steps taken to ensure social care is viewed with as a profession with clear standards of practice, and social care services viewed as a place where people want to work.

Rhian Huws Williams, the Care Council for Wales’ Chief Executive said: “We can see the progress that has been made in promoting high standards of practice and training for those working in social care services in Wales.”

“We are now seeing the fruit of partnership working, listening to and working with service users, carers, employees and employers across the sector; that is our ethos and we are keen to improve and strengthen that approach year on year. It is on that basis that we look forward to building further on the foundations that are now in place.”
