QCA: Publication of guide to floating a company
Monday, 18 Feb 2008 12:26
Following the recent release of our guide to listing international companies in London, the Quoted Companies Alliance is proud to announce the publication of
“A brief guide to floating a company in the UK: AIM, The Main Market, The PLUS-listed and PLUS-quoted markets.”
Deciding to raise funds on a public market can be the most important decision made by a company’s board of directors. This guide will help directors make an informed decision. It provides information on the advantages of a flotation, how to float, which types of advisers are on hand to help, and an overview of the regulations governing the principal UK equity markets (both on flotation and on a continuing basis thereafter). In addition, it provides a summary of UK taxation legislation, the effects of which will also have to be considered before embarking upon an IPO process.
Commenting on the release of the guide, John Pierce, Chief Executive of the QCA, said:
“One of the key tasks of the Quoted Companies Alliance is to provide guidance to smaller quoted companies. This role starts with guiding companies aspiring to join the public markets on the rules and requirements associated with being a quoted company. This guide fulfils that aim in a straightforward way that covers all the main topics to consider when bringing a company to market.”
Tom Franks, Chief Operating Officer and Partner of KPMG Corporate Finance, said:
“We have worked alongside the QCA for a number of months to produce this guide and we hope that it will be of use to both current and prospective market participants and QCA members. The guide will provide readers with an excellent overview of what they need to consider and do in order to join a public market and I recommend it to you.”

Notes to Editors
The Quoted Companies Alliance
The Quoted Companies Alliance (QCA) is the only organisation dedicated solely to fighting for the interests of small and mid-cap companies in one of the most important sectors of the UK economy - the thousands of companies outside the FTSE 350 on the Main Market, including those companies on AIM and the PLUS markets.
Its members also include companies seeking admission to a UK equity market, either the Main Market (ex FTSE 350), AIM or the PLUS markets. The QCA promotes the interests and views of its members to Government, Europe, regulators and other professional bodies, educates its members on best practices and provides a vital forum for networking.
Celebrating 16 years in 2008, the QCA forms its views through highly focused committees and working groups comprising senior representatives from across the smaller quoted companies sector.
