Senior officers today welcomed the agreement of a three year police pay deal.
Following the announcement today, Chief Superintendent Pat Stayt, Negotiating Secretary of the PNB Superintendents’ Staff Side Committee, representing officers of Superintendent and Chief Superintendent rank in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland said:
‘The deal is one that the Superintendents’ Staff Side Committee and the Executive Committees of England and Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland welcome. It gives pay increases over the three year period which are not excessive but which enable officers to know what their pay will be.
‘The deal also enables both Sides of the Police Negotiating Board to take breath after three years of dispute over basic pay and start to direct their attention to other important matters.
‘Achieving this deal has been a challenging and lengthy process for all involved, set in the present difficult economic climate, and it is hoped that PNB can now move away from its recent cycles of dispute.’
