Charles Wysocki, managing director of Calmag, one of Europe’s largest independent manufacturers of water conditioning products, has said it has joined the Domestic Water Treatment Association (DWTA - a group within BEAMA), because of the need to “standardise certain areas of the water treatment industry.”

He commented: “An important association within the industry, we feel the DWTA is making the right steps towards this through the chemical group. Ultimately, under this banner, it’s giving customers the confidence to use heating system products offering the highest standards of installation and performance.

“The whole concept of promoting professionalism and standards will ensure the industry moves to the next level - eradicating the ‘cowboy’ element that has preceded it.”

DWTA Director Kelly Butler said: “Calmag is another key industry player in our ranks. We’re delighted it’s onboard – the association is going from strength-to-strength in the influence it yields in the marketplace, especially regarding standardisation issues and initiatives.”

Note to editors

About the DWTA The DWTA was established in 2004 with an objective to introduce and promote product and installation quality standards for the chemical water treatment sector. The association works with the heating industry, Government and customer groups to ensure chemical water treatment is recognised for its contribution in providing the level of performance a customer should expect from a heating system.

By using products conforming to the DWTA standard specification and treating heating systems in line with BS7593 and the more up-to-date DWTA code of practice, customers can rest assured that their central heating will maintain its efficiency for a minimum of 10 years. With this performance assurance, the DWTA is unrivalled in demonstrating customer benefits.

The DWTA was formed under the umbrella of BEAMAEnergy, the home of the heating controls association TACMA, and the Thermostatic Mixing Valves Manufacturers’ Association, TMVA.

The association invites all manufacturers and suppliers of chemical water treatment products to join.

DWTA members include: Calmag, Fernox, Kamco, Sentinel.
