BCA: Change of Chairman

Thursday, 14, Jun 2007 12:00

The British Cement Association (BCA) has announced a change to its chairman.

Jean-Francois (Jeff) Sautin relinquished his role as Chairman of BCA at the end of May 2007, due to internal moves within Lafarge. Jeff has been chairman since March 2006. He has been succeeded by Clive James, Tarmac Building Products Director.

Commenting upon the change, Mike Gilbert, Chief Executive of the BCA said:

“I should like to put on record my own personal thanks to Jeff for his outstanding contribution to the UK cement industry, firstly as a long term member of BCA’s Governing Council; secondly as Chairman of the UK cement industry’s Sustainable Development Task Force and last, but by no means least, as Chairman of BCA.

“The UK cement industry has made some significant progress towards improving its leadership in the sustainable construction debate during his tenure as Chairman. His strength of purpose has proved especially valuable during a time of heightened attention on the need to tackle climate change.

“I know that all who have worked with Jeff during his time with the UK cement industry will want to wish him the very best for the future.

Clive has been a member of BCA Council since autumn 2004 and brings significant industry experience across the cement and concrete industry to BCA’s busy agenda.”
