Intellect comments on Lord Stevens Report
Wednesday, 02 Jul 2008 12:41
Intellect, the trade association for the UK technology sector, welcomed the focus on effective ICT in Lord Stevens' Border Security report, launched this week.
Intellect believes that information management and communications are the lifeblood of the UK's security, resilience and law enforcement agencies, and Lord Stevens' report highlights how exploiting ICT effectively would be critical for a UK border patrol force.
The UK technology industry would be a vital partner for delivering the integrated and evolving technologies that the report envisages, and Intellect plays a key role helping industry, stakeholders and policy makers to work together. Intellect works with a range of Government departments to improve procurement and project delivery in the public sector, so that complex technologies like these are delivered effectively and efficiently.
Joel Grundy, Defence and Security Programme Manager at Intellect, commented,
"We welcome the report's emphasis on the effective use of technology in national security. Information sharing and communications are the glue which binds our security & resilience community together, and we're pleased that policymakers are keen to develop these technologies for the future. We look forward to engaging with Lord Stevens' commission to help turn these recommendations into policy"
