The British Security Industry Association has created a new section of membership for companies that supply close protection services in the UK.

Alex Carmichael, BSIA Technical and Membership Services Director, comments: "Close protection has become a key sector within our industry in recent years due to extensive investment in training and professional standards as well as the introduction of licensing. BSIA is already involved in the creation of a new British Standard for the sector as some of our existing security guarding members also undertake close protection services."

"We now wish to attract close protection companies into membership so that they too can benefit from the key relationships that BSIA has with government, the Police, standards-forming bodies and the regulator. Going forward, we will continue to drive standards, increase professionalism and act as the voice of the sector as we do for our other sections of membership."

As with other BSIA sections, companies applying for membership of the Close Protection Section will have to demonstrate that they are committed to quality and to upholding standards, whilst also proving they have adequate insurance and are financially stable. Companies interested in joining should contact the BSIA Membership Team on 0845 3893889 or email membership@bsia.co.uk
