The National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO) has announced that it will launch a charity confidence survey in 2008. The 'Charity Prospects Survey'
will canvas sector leaders on current trends and future expectations, in order to make predictions about changes within the voluntary sector, ranging from economic issues to changes in staffing or volunteering levels.
Karl Wilding, Head of Research at NCVO, said:
'This survey will be a valuable tool for voluntary organisations, providing information about what other voluntary or community organisations are likely to do in the coming months, broken down by sub sector, size, region and black and minority ethnic (BME) and non BME organisations. It will increase the intelligence base of the sector and give leaders an advantage that they haven't had before.'
Over time, the survey will build up an index of the level of confidence within the voluntary sector and track fluctuations in confidence against external indicators such as policy changes and GDP.
The survey will canvass the 'charity confidence' of Chief executives, Directors and Trustees of charities by inviting NCVO members and non-members to take part.
The survey will be available online from February 2008 and available to purchase from NCVO's website from March 2008.
