ASA welcomes introduction of Emergency Workers (Obstruction) Act 2006
Tuesday, 20 Feb 2007 11:47
Commenting on the implementation of the Emergency Workers (Obstruction) Act 2006, Richard Diment, Chief Executive of the Ambulance Service Association said:
“Ambulance staff throughout the country will be delighted to see this Act put into effect. Too many people think they can get away with causing obstruction and nuisance to ambulance staff trying to get on with their jobs of saving lives and helping people in urgent need of care. We will be looking to use this Act - and expect the full co-operation of the police and Crown Prosecution Service - to show just how unacceptable obstructing ambulance staff is. Paramedics and the other staff employed by the ambulance service deserve the full co-operation of the public to be able to undertake their jobs in a safe and secure environment.”
