GoSkills appoints Chris King as its new Business Adviser for Wales

Chris King has been appointed to the position of Business Adviser for Wales by GoSkills, the Sector Skills Council (SSC) for Passenger Transport. Chris brings substantial business development and relationship management experience to the role.

As Welsh Business Adviser, Chris’s core task will be to work with sector employers in order to improve the skills base of passenger transport industries across the country. Acting as the interface and facilitator of sector or industry specific initiatives, he will work closely with the Welsh Assembly Government, HE and FE organisations, training providers and Local Enterprise Agencies, to identify and exploit potential business opportunities.

A timely appointment, one of Chris’s first responsibilities as the Wales Business Adviser will be to assist in the launch of Routes to Progress1, GoSkills’ Sector Skills Agreement for Wales – an agreement with employers to tackle skills issues in a coordinated way with a set plan of action.

Chris brings to GoSkills a successful track record in business development, most recently with Venture Wales where he provided help and guidance to new and existing businesses via Welsh Assembly funded programmes. His responsibilities at Venture Wales also included developing and implementing marketing plans aimed at generating new business.

Commenting on his appointment, Chris said: “My appointment as GoSkills’ Business Adviser for Wales will require me to draw considerably on my relationship management experience which is of key importance in forming close links with economic development and Welsh Assembly Government. I am looking forward to the challenge of providing effective advice and guidance to operators on passenger transport sector skills and training issues.”
