Golden hat-trick for NFU's award winning display

Wednesday, 09 Jul 2008 15:54
The NFU display ‘Growing for another Century’ has scooped another gold medal – this time at the 2008 Hampton Court Palace Flower Show.

The display, which also struck gold at this year’s RHS Chelsea Flower Show and BBC Gardeners World Live, has a bold, 21st century, high-tech feel and showcases the full range of seasonally-available British fruit, vegetables, plants and flowers that can be bought in local supermarkets, garden centres, markets or stores across the country.

The display is designed by Penny Riley and her team and has won many plaudits this summer.

Richard Hirst, chairman of the NFU horticulture board, said: “The Hampton Court Palace Flower Show is another great chance to showcase the very best of British produce to the world. Our recently launched Why Horticulture Matters campaign shows just how important horticulture is to the health of the nation, the economy and the environment, and the display acts as a spectacular reminder of this as well as reminding consumers to buy British.

“I am delighted to have won this, our third gold medal, and my thanks go to Penny and her team who have worked so hard on creating this award-winning display.”
