Chamber of Shipping: MNTB appoint new careers coordinator

The Merchant Navy Training Board (MNTB) has appointed a full-time Careers Co-ordinator, David Scales.

David Scales joins the MNTB with a broad range of careers experience, having provided careers advice and guidance across the whole range of career options to individuals, client groups including unemployed adults in the voluntary sector, undergraduates/graduates, students in further education and young people.

He will be coordinating the MNTB’s careers activity which has grown considerably over the last few years as a result of the introduction of new foundation degree programmes.

A major part of his work will be attending careers events across the country along with a programme of secondary school, FE/HE Colleges and Careers Service/Connexions visits, promoting opportunities within the merchant navy, both onboard and ashore in ship management and the wider shipping and maritime sectors.

David is a member of the Institute of Career Guidance (ICG) and the Association of Graduate Careers Advisory Services (AGCAS) and holds a Diploma in Careers Guidance (part 1 & 2).
