The British Security Industry Association has welcomed today's guilty verdicts for four men convicted of taking part in a series of cash-in-transit attacks.

The men, found guilty at Kingston Crown Court, were involved in 18 cash-in-transit attacks in total, which culminated in the fatal shooting of two accomplices by police in Chandler's Ford last year.

David Dickinson, BSIA Chief Executive, comments: "These four men have been convicted for their part in a series of violent and intimidating attacks against cash-in-transit couriers and I congratulate the police officers involved in the investigation for their excellent work. Far from victimless crimes, these attacks have a profound effect on the couriers involved, their families and their colleagues. Our thoughts remain with all the victims of these attacks and we hope that they have recovered from their traumatic ordeals."

"Whilst this particular gang of cash-in-transit attackers has been found guilty, the crime remains a serious problem for our industry. The work by partners to reduce attacks has made excellent progress, but more needs to be done to reduce their instance still further. The security industry is committed to working with the Police, Home Office, trade unions, and customers to continue the battle against these attacks."

"Today's verdicts send a clear message to criminals that cash-in-transit crime is not easy money. The security industry and its partners are determined to do everything they can to prevent cash-in-transit attacks and ensure more of the crime's perpetrators are brought to justice."
