Confirming the BMF’s position as the UK’s most influential rider group, BMF Government Relations Executive Chris Hodder has been appointed to a top position within the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM).

Acting on a recommendation from the ACU, the management council of the FIM have appointed Chris to the Commission for Mobility, Transport, Road Safety and Public Policy, an expert group that includes riders from Europe, Latin America, North America (Canada and the USA) and Africa.

The full Commission meets twice a year and oversees an information exchange network. It also advises the FIM on the issues of the day. In addition to the main meetings members are regularly called on by FIM to act as representatives at international events and to join various working parties.

Commenting, Chris Hodder said: “This is an important post and I’m honoured to be selected to represent the British motorcyclists’ interests. In a rapidly changing world and with so many regulations now being made in the UN, it’s crucial that we work together on policy and this is a truly international opportunity for bringing that about.”

FIM Director of Public Affairs, John Chatterton-Ross said: “I am delighted that once again, thanks to our excellent relationship with the ACU, we have a BMF professional at an FIM table. Chris brings real expertise from the UK and, being the BMF’s representative within the Federation of European Motorcyclists (FEMA), will help in our aim to build the maximum degree of consensus when it comes to representing motorcycling – particularly in Brussels.”
