Members will be able to insure their guns through the BASC website – www.basc.org.uk. Premiums start from under £20 per year for £1000 worth of cover and less than £40 for £3,000 worth of cover. The new BASC gun insurance has been arranged by BASC’s insurance broker Marsh and is sold, administered and underwritten by Allianz Insurance plc.

This policy is not only comprehensive, it is also flexible. Under the package, other items can be added such as telescopic sights, cameras, binoculars and even your fishing kit for an extra premium.

BASC’s head of membership marketing, David Ilsley, said: “One of the most common questions we get from members on insurance is ‘where can I insure my guns?’ We tasked our insurance broker, Marsh, to research the market and identify a competitive gun insurance product designed to suit our members’ requirements. We believe this product does just that and will be warmly welcomed by our members.”

The insurance is subject to terms and conditions. BASC also offers gundog insurance – more details on both products can be found on the BASC website – www.basc.org.uk.
