APIL (the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers) was established in 1990 by a group of lawyers working on behalf of personal injury victims and now has over 5,000 members. For 18 years APIL has campaigned on behalf of people who have been injured or become ill through no fault of their own.
APIL accredited lawyers are dedicated to trying to prevent avoidable injuries by raising awareness of health and safety issues and dangerous products.
APIL campaigns target MPs, civil servants, local officials, the press and the general public to promote a "safety culture" throughout the UK.
We support a society in which people take responsibility for the safety of others, where risk is managed properly to encourage activity, while keeping people safe.
The association's current projects include the law on damages; coroners' reform; campaigning for statutory health and safety duties for directors; streamlining the claims process; reform of the law on limitation; an educational campaign to explain the difference between an accident and negligence.
