Black Mental Health UK

Welcome

BMH UK (Black Mental Health UK) is a human rights campaigning group established in 2006 to raise awareness about the inequalities in treatment and care of people from African Caribbean communities using psychiatric services.

BMH is currently running a campaign calling for the 2006 Mental Health Bill to include changes in the law which will protect the rights of the most vulnerable in society forced to use mental health services, while reducing the over representation of African Caribbean’s at the high and medium secure end of psychiatric care.

Our online lobbying campaign is supported by over 20 voluntary and national partners including the Mental Health Alliance, which has a membership of 77 organisations.

We work in partnership with charitable and national organisations in promoting ethical practice and raising awareness about discrimination within mental health care.
