Monday, 26 July 2010 12:00 AM

The National Housing Federation has launched its Making Apprenticeships Work Conference which will help housing associations set up and improve their own apprenticeship schemes to benefit businesses, communities and tenants. The conference will take place on 19 October 2010 at Austin Court in Birmingham.

Aimed at all housing associations, third sector and local authority staff with an interest in tenants and worklessness, the event will focus on best practice in apprenticeship schemes in the social housing sector. Case studies will be presented from organisations that have successfully started apprenticeship programmes from which attendees can draw guidance on how to set up or improve their own schemes.

This event will give an insight into the future landscape for tackling worklessness. It will also look into the Government's future policies on work pairing and apprenticeship schemes, opportunities for partnership working and funding models.

Confirmed speakers include:

Steve Howlett, Chief Executive, Peabody and Board Member,Asset Skills
Ed Barber, Deputy Managing Director, Calico Enterprise
