Comment from NEA, the national fuel poverty charity on The Green Deal: watching brief report, published today by the Energy and Climate Change Committee.
Today’s announcement by the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) that it will be providing £900,000 in 2013/14 to fund the creation of the ‘Big Energy Saving Network’ as part of the Government’s response to the discussion document ‘ensuring a better deal for energy consumers’ is welcomed by the UK fuel poverty charity, NEA.
NEA, the national fuel poverty charity is urging the Government to implement a coherent, efficient and adequately resourced strategy to tackle the problems faced by those unable to heat their homes affordably, despite an apparent drop in the number of fuel poor households.
NEA and MHNE have been working in partnership on the Warm Minds project, increasing the awareness of practitioners and service users of the effects that a cold home can have on mental health. Continue reading...
