Welcome
The Human Givens Institute (HGI) is a membership organisation for people drawn to the deeply practical new school of psychology known as the human givens approach. Members include: doctors, teachers, diplomats, psychotherapists, counsellors, psychologists, psychiatrists, primary care workers and NHS mental health professionals from all levels, indeed anyone wishing to integrate the best evidence-based psychological interventions with up-to-date scientific insights into the psychology and biology of human functioning. Its peer-reviewed quarterly journal, Human Givens, has a distinguished editorial advisory board.
Human givens therapeutic work is the most holistic, effective and inclusive way of dealing with depression, anxiety disorders (including post traumatic stress disorder), psychosis, addiction and anti-social behaviour. This is because any successful intervention by any therapist, whatever ‘model’ they were originally trained in, succeeds only to the degree that it is tune with the givens of human nature. Likewise, organisations which embrace the human givens principles see staff turnover rates go down, financial savings and big improvements in performance.
HGI is also a resource open to anyone wishing to support and draw on this new and enriching school of psychology. Indeed, the psychological knowledge and skills embodied in the human givens approach are vital if we are to stand any real chance of tackling the country’s rapidly rising rates of mental illness and the fractured state of education in schools.
