05/05/2008: ESRC: Centre for Market and Public Organisation: Evaluating health policy: New evidence from administrative data

Monday, 05 May 2008 10:07
The UK health care sector is rich in administrative data. To date these have been relatively underused in policy evaluation. The NHS is currently in the middle of an ambitious set of reforms, all of which will need to be evaluated. Administrative data may prove to be a rich source of information for this purpose. This is the second of two conferences to:

  • explore the use of administrative data in health care policy reform
  • present and discuss research that aims directly to inform public policy making through creative use of existing administrative datasets
  • facilitate exchange between UK researchers and policy-makers based at different institutions who share interests in use of administrative data
  • draw lessons for health policy and to assess the contribution that administrative data can make to evidence based policy making.
