Course Aims

This 3 day course enables participants to develop knowledge and understanding of pension scheme trusteeship, and helps individuals to become conversant in scheme specific trustee matters. The course is ideal for those who are already conversant with the basic principles of trusteeship - for example, those who have attended What is Trusteeship?

Attendees benefit from real life and scenario case studies and networking with experts and peers. The course acknowledges the fact that many of today's trustees manage defined contribution arrangements or are responsible for both defined benefit and defined contribution schemes. The course also helps those individuals who wish to fast track their training on a wide variety of trustee issues.

Learning outcomes

On completion of the course participants will:

  • recognise the structure of UK occupational, state and personal pension arrangements

  • be able to identify the main areas of responsibility for pension scheme trustees including duties under trust law and regulations

  • be aware of the key financial and investment risks attached to pension scheme trusteeship in DB and DC schemes

  • be familiar with the key funding issues in DB schemes

  • recognise the influence the Government and regulatory bodies have on pension trustee activity
