17/06/2008: Royal College of Physicians: Management of type 2 diabetes

Tuesday, 17 Jun 2008 15:58
Diabetes care is a complex undertaking with clinical management in a number of preventative (blood glucose, blood lipids, blood pressure, coagulopathy) and organ (cardiovascular, retinopathy, neuropathy, feet, nephropathy) domains. For the updated NICE Type 2 Diabetes Guideline 2008, the Royal College of Physicians has performed an evidence-based review of these domains (except foot care), and synthesized up to date recommendations, covering everything from self-monitoring and education to novel therapies. The presentations will cover the whole of the Guideline, and will be delivered by a mixture of the experts who advised the Guidelines Development Group and members of the Group itself.

Attendance fee includes a copy of the Guideline, provided to all delegates at the conference.

Audience: Those providing care to people with diabetes - GPs, diabetologists, endocrinologists, practice nurses, diabetes specialist nurses, dieticians, pharmacists. Those involved in commissioning diabetes services - PCT chronic diseases commissioners, NHS managers, NICE personnel. Those involved in diabetes guidelines.

Conference Organiser: Professor Philip Home, Newcastle University
