Tuesday, 17 Jun 2008 15:48
Learning for the Future
17th June 2008 – Bridgend, Best Western Heronston Hotel
18th June 2008 – Llandudno, Venue Cymru
This is an event for practitioners, managers and trainers in Adult Social Care, Social Care for Children and Social Work arranged by the Care Council for Wales as part of Social Care Week. The focus of the day will be Career Pathways and Continuous Professional Development opportunities for the future.
The day is seen as a contribution towards the achievement of a workforce which is aware of it’s professional accountability, is up to date with what works in practice, and is, as a result, confident and well informed.
The event will also be attended by the Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE)who will provide advice and information on their contribution to this agenda.
Learning matters because…
- we work in a sector that is constantly changing in terms of:
o Service users and carers expectations
o The policy context for service delivery
o The way services are delivered
o Where services are delivered
o How service users and carers influence services they access.
- it is an on-going requirement for every practitioner and organisation within the sector, and finding a way to record and recognise learning is important.
- we need to make sure the sector is retaining staff, and ensure that social care is an attractive career for new recruits. Creating Career Pathways that are attractive and offer different ways to climb the career ladder could offer a solution.
- we have an opportunity to recognise and make relevant all the learning people do throughout their careers in social care.
This event is free but places are limited so you are advised to book as soon as possible.
Please return completed booking forms before 30 May
