Countryside Alliance: New chief executive for Alliance

Monday, 20 September 2010 12:00 AM

Former Countryside Alliance Regional Director, Alice Barnard (33) was today appointed the new Chief Executive of the Countryside Alliance and The Countryside Alliance Foundation.

Alice joined the Cambridgeshire County Committee while at University and is a former master of the Cambridge University Drag Hounds. She started hunting at the age of nine and hunted with the High Peak Hunt in Derbyshire while growing up. She now hunts in Leicestershire.

Alice worked in London for seven years in corporate sales, culminating in the launch of a 'start up' company with two partners specialising in sales generation for blue chip companies and has travelled extensively in Europe and the USA managing client portfolios.

Alice lives in Leicestershire with her husband Matt, daughter Isobel and a menagerie of animals.

Countryside Alliance Chairman, Kate Hoey MP, commented: "I am delighted that Alice has accepted the position of Chief Executive. She is a talented and outstanding person who is well placed to take the Countryside Alliance through the many exciting challenges that lie ahead."
Alice commented: "I am thrilled to have been appointed as Chief Executive of the Countryside Alliance, an organisation I have been a member of since childhood. Working in the regions over the last three years, directly with our members and volunteers has been a privilege. I am taking over this role at a very exciting time and would like to pay tribute to all that my predecessor, Simon Hart, achieved while he was Chief Executive. I am fully committed to driving forward the campaigning and charity work of the Countryside Alliance and The Countryside Alliance Foundation across a broad range of issues, and look forward to continuing our commitment to rural communities. The Alliance has a wide agenda but field sports will remain its backbone, and repeal of the Hunting Act is a key objective."

Ends..
