This year BASC celebrates its centenary with special events, memorabilia and a commitment to fight for shooting in the future, as we have in the past.
The association has come a long way since Stanley Duncan called the first general meeting of WAGBI at the Imperial Hotel, Hull, in 1908. Now with a staff of more than 100 we are the representatives of a sport worth £2 billion a year. We can look forward to an exciting future, but not forget the past which traditionally began on the banks of the Humber.
The major celebrations to launch the centenary had to be abandoned at this year's CLA, as it was cancelled due to the appalling weather. However the highlights of the centenary will be the publication of the official history of WAGBI/BASC, a range of celebratory products and events including BASC and WAGBI memorabilia, whisky, a centenary ball, clay shoots, competitions and publications.
However, if you are intending to visit the Midland Game Fair on either the 15th or 16th of September at Weston Park, in Shropshire, you will be able to help celebrate the centenary by purchasing some of our limited edition merchandise or a copy of the centenary history, written by Graham Downing.
